Your well-being is our top priority.

Our team continues to look at the current state of the pandemic and our outdoor spectator event from all angles. As planning for race day continues, we are regularly discussing the practical steps we can take to ensure the safety and well-being of everyone who participates. We’re also fortunate to count among our planning staff public health professionals who work specifically with these issues.

We’re planning the race using the latest city of Decatur guidelines for outdoor event settings. Effective August 16th masks must be worn by everyone, except when eating and drinking. Decatur’s ordinance requires the wearing of masks or facial coverings in all outdoor public places where adequate social distancing cannot be maintained (i.e., at least six feet away from others not in the same household).

We ask that all attendees take their individual health and the health of others seriously by complying with all updated public health guidance. Let’s do our very best job for each other. In the meantime, watch this space for updates about our plans and procedures to make this year’s Derby safe and fun.
